Post, Robert, and Michael Paul Rogin. Race and Representation: Affirmative Action. New York: Zone Books, 1998.
Evaluation: I was really excited when I found this book through the Auraria campus library, because it will really benefit my research. This book bases the representation of race in the affirmative action scene. I will be really interested in finding what arguments are written in this book. Race is obviously the main factor when implementing affirmative action.
Website:
"Is affirmative action good public policy?" Debatepedia. 29 Sept. 2009. Web. 19 Oct. 2009.
Evaluation: Debatepedia is helping me understand different sides of the argument towards affirmative action. I just puts into perspective other people's ideas, that I most likely will not be citing this information or using it, because it is biased.
Periodical:
Lithwick, Dahlia. "Law: Obama and Affirmative Action." Newsweek. (2008): 34.
Evaluation: Obama has said in an interview with Associated Press, that he is for affirmative action. I think this information will be relate to my research paper because it will showcase the opinions that officials in the government have to say about affirmative action.
Website:
"About the AAAA." American Association for Affirmative Action. Web. 19 Oct. 2009.
Evaluation: Obviously this will be my best resource for affirmative action. This group is the American Association for Affirmative Action, and yes, it will be biased. But it will give my good information regarding what their ultimate goals are in implementing affirmative action in education, and the workplace.
Video:
Overview: Obama on Affirmative Action. 02 July 2009. Online Video Clip. Youtube. 19 October 2009.
Evaluation: As I previously mentioned, in this video clip Obama gets interviewed my Associated Press and answers a few questions regarding affirmative action, and what his personal preference is to this matter.
Government Publication:
United States. U.S. Department of Labor. Facts on Executive Order 11246 — Affirmative Action. Web. 19 Oct. 2009.
Evaluation: I like this fact sheet that the U.S. Department of Labor published because it gives the facts on this law that provides equality for all in the workplace. I will definitely give my approach to my affirmative action assignment to my research project, in which, i can use the information on this website to highlight the workforce towards affirmative action.
