Internet Research Project

The internet search engine that I used was: Technorati( www.technorati.com).

Technorati is a search engine for blogs, it has houses about 112.5 million blogs, and about 250 million social media. It has categories which make it easier to search the website i.e. politics, religions, music, business, etc. I find that Technorati is useful to find out what other people are "blogging" about in different subject matters. Although, blogs are not usually credible, and are biased material, nonetheless, it gives a person good insight and opinions about different subjects. People can also post their own blog about their ideals and have people comment on their blogs and share them with others, also if you like someone's blog, you can subscribes to their blog via rss feeds.

I find that Technorati's strengths would have to be that it seperates the blogs by categories. It makes it easier to find the subject that you are trying to search and it even shows you the most popular blog in the category. I did find it frustrating that when i went to type in a keyword in the search bar for example: cats. I did not get any blogs releveant to cats even when I posted the word, cats, with the search strings: cats, pets+cats. All it did was show me blogs were the word cat or pets was in the blog.

Technorati searches a variety of different websites, but doesn't show what database it is taken from. For example if I typed in cats, and got a blog about the history of cats, it didn't display that the blog was found on Google or Yahoo, it just takes me to the website were the blog was found. Technorati does however have it own directory.

As of case sensitivity issue and stop words, Technorati shows no signs of it. The advanced search allows you to search through the blogs, videos, or photos. It also will give you the option of just exploring the entire post or just the tags, with additon choosing the authority type and the different languages. Techonarti also offers a support pages, were you can type a phrase, or look at the frequently asked questions and find your troubleshooting solutions there. I like that it does let you upload videos and photos related to your blog.
